Campus Cool.

Fashion is awesome. Don't get me wrong I love over the top runway shows for the sake of art and expression but for me what matters is personal style and what people are wearing in their everyday lives. This personal style is an expression of art and functionality. We live in our clothes everyday, every moment, 24/7, so its cool to take a little time to appreciate those with awesome style while furthering their education.

Chemline Launch Party

Ah, Chemline. I cannot say enough about this line. I absolutely love love love it.
I had the pleasure of attending the Chemline Launch Party a few weekends ago (Sadly I was not able to post this until now:/)
Not only was Chemline showing their Fall collection but so was Lavuk and ISM Mode. All of which had beautiful pieces I would love to include in my fall wardrobe.
This skirt! Ah. I was so happy seeing it in store. I loved the laser cut details on Lavuk's fall items. Although it is fall it doesn't mean you can't wear bright pops of color. Summer meets Fall ah I love it.!
Like I said, I was lucky enough to see Chemline's Fall Collection at Concept Fashion Week in March and I fell in love with the scallop detail on pockets and hems.  I cannot say how happy this display made me. Its so classic, modern and sleek. And on top of that sustainable!
:)
I wish I would have taken more photos because ISM Mode had some awesome blouses I was drooling over.
Titania Inglis had some amazing pieces at the Chemline showroom
I grabbed this photo from her Facebook
but I saw this jacket at the party but a hanger doesn't do it justice.
This jacket is amazing! I love the rounded shape and the pleats. Its architectural stunning yet soft and feminine.

I get so excited for fashion

The process

A fashion designer is absolutely an artist. Therefore I have taken art classes and one of my favorite classes I have taken to date is my Digital Art class. I love illustrator , photoshop..not so much.. but we are doing a lot of work on illustrator.  yay!
We had to create a blog and its been helping me blog more, both on my artistic endeavors and on this fashion one.. (slowly but slowly)
anywhoo.. check it out..

inspiration..

Today I went fabric shopping and got totally inspired by this blue crushed velvet. I stood there at this fabric shop draped in crushed velvet and I totally felt like stevie nicks, well not really, but I felt like making something that embodied the witchy, mystical, cool style of miss stevie nicks circa 1976

With thoughts of spring floating around my head

I have started the fall semester at school and as soon as September rolled around in beautiful So.Cal so did the foggy mornings. ::Burrr:: And I cannot say enough how excited I am to layer, layer, layer. I can't focus on that when SPRING FASHION WEEK rolls around. How badly do I want to wear fun and flirty little sun dresses. The ultimate test this fall semester will be how to incorporate bright florals into fall. Luckily the climate out here does not call for thick coats and long johns under every outfit. But sometimes I wish it did because there are some awesome coats out there. But! Thats a different post :)
Anywho..
Heres a photo of one of my favorite fashion shows this spring season...
Enjoy (Until I find a moment to create a proper post)

I may still be in summer school (3 More Weeks!) but I am definitely still on top of all things summer!

oh its summer!

Yes, it is summer time. The solstice is past us and although I won't be spending the whole summer on the beach I will still be incorporating summer cute at summer school. :)
I recently got these shorts at Forever 21

I must say I'm obsessed! I love wearing these with my favorite vintage horse t-shirt.

And always paired with these cowboy boots I just found a few weeks back at the Salvation Army.

Yay for summer! Enjoy all :)

Skirts and t-shirts!!

Chemline Fall/Winter 2011

Chemline showed their Fall/Winter 2011 collection last night, March 11, at the Ace Gallery. I had not seen many garments from the line prior to the show besides the photo on their website. So lets just say I was going in with a clean slate. What I found was a sleek, strong woman who isn't afraid of sweet details, but is far from a delicate flower. The color palette consisted of deep forest greens, tan silks, black, and cream.
Believe it or not, last night on Wilshire, I was in a sea of scallops.
AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!
One of the details that had me gushing was the scalloped hems an Onyx velvet skirt. As the model walked down the runway, the creme lining peeked through. I loved it.
So cute and can we please gush over the collar. The collar mirrored the shape in the back, which made me really happy.

This little white dress had me really excited. Again with the collar.
:D

This coat makes me wish it was winter all year long. The cuff detail is so lovely. It was a thoughtful addition to the coat. Perhaps one of my favorite things about fashion is the details designers add to unexpected places that make you feel like they are thinking about you. Its like the post it your mum put in your lunch box. so sweet.

....Sexy bullfighter...
I love the bow collar thing. The back! (which sadly could not find a picture of) had ...YES scallops! so so so adorable.
....yes I want 5 please :)
Overall the collection was awesome. I left a happy little lady

Designer and the last look which was GORGEOUS!

Oscar Red Carpet

Hailee Steinfeld was a break out actress in "True Grit" but I wish she would have worn some color! Shes young and fabulous, but come on! The color totally washes her out! But I must admit I am a sucker for a perfectly cinched 1950s inspired cocktail/housewife dress. And the embroidery/beading on the bodice is lovely. But since she is so young and an upcoming starlet, she could have pushed the "Fashion envelope" and worn something bright or atleast that doesn't match her skin tone. .. Oh well! Theres always next year!

Okay, I would have liked to finish my Fashion week posts before "covering" the Oscars but I couldn't help it!
I had to mention Mila Kunis's dress. I absolutely loved her in "Black Swan" as the alternative ballet bad girl. But in this lavender lace-y dress, shes absolutely gorgeous and sweet.
The lace tiers/flounces frame her figure perfectly. The lace around her chest is awesome. It ties in the flounces at the bottom. I dig it!

oh yes please!

I bought these today from Old Navy. They were in the girls department but I couldn't help myself! They looked really comfortable and cute. Nothing screams Spring like Espadrille flats :) I am thinking these will be a staple in many Spring wardrobes! At least they will be in my closet.
These would be cute with jeans and a t-shirt but would definitely complement a fun summer dress. I can't wait for Spring! It is my favorite time of the year because the weather is mild enough to wear dresses without tights or leggings but you can still accessorize with a cute cardigan :)

Overall, this little purchase will definitely add a pop of color to my wardrobe.

Don't worry, I'll continue the hunt for more Spring must-haves.

mmm... back to school chic, what will you be wearing this fall?

Saturday, July 10, 2010

oh, is that couture I smell?!

yes indeedy kiddies.
Penny, my studio teacher, told me something very important the first day of studio. "As a fashion designer it is your duty to research, go into high end stores and look at the clothing, touch the fabric, look at the construction. Its your industry"
Ever since then, I constantly geek out on Style.com
Watching runway videos, looking at pictures. Its my job.
anyway enough out of me. SOME FASHION!
From Christian Dior's Fall 2010 Couture show
I love flowers and I hate seeing "Floral" inspired garments that simply has a floral print on it.
This is taking the nature's gift and really creating something from it.
I adore this.
.... This makes me happy.
....speechless...
With the New Look silhouette, this is perfection.

Ah, yes, I'll take 2 please.
Let's all thank Galliano and his workers for an orgasmic show.
::CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP:::
I can start my Saturday now, I hope you can too!
